Initiatives

One of our key focuses as the trade association for the sport is the growth of frequent players. To help increase the frequent player base, the TIA works closely with the USTA and our industry partners to provide and help support a variety of grow the game initiatives. These initiatives not only help increase participation in the sport, but also provide opportunities for tennis providers to grow their businesses and profitability. In addition to supporting these initiatives the TIA helps support dissemination of information regarding the initiatives through the industry's largest database of tennis information - the GrowingTennis System. Below is a list of industry initiatives in which the TIA is involved:

Cardio Tennis™

An exciting program started March 2005, Cardio Tennis is a new, fun, group activity, featuring drills to give players of all abilities an ultimate, high-energy workout. Taught by a teaching professional, Cardio Tennis includes a warm-up, cardio workout, and cool down phases. If present or new players are looking for a great new way to get in shape and to burn calories, in a fun fitness group activity they must try Cardio Tennis.

playtennis.com

It’s a very simple message—“play tennis!”—yet its impact throughout this industry can be huge. The new playtennis.com has launched to consumers. Playtennis.com is the site where everyone in the industry can send consumers and players to encourage them to get in the game and to play more tennis. To support the launch of the site, playtennis.com will appear in television, online and print and social media messaging with a consumer out-reach and marketing campaign that also targets the US Open and Emirates Airline US Open Series. In addition the logo will appear on 30 million cans of tennis balls, 1.5 million racquets and other product packaging.

Play Tennis Fast is designed as a 6-session course of six, 1 hour lessons and is a specific starter player course that has been developed to introduce (or welcome back) adult players to tennis using the slower balls.

This is the Industry portal website for all Tennis Providers. This system is provided completely FREE to you by the Tennis
Industry Association and the United States Tennis Association. GrowingTennis.com is intended to assist tennis program organizers, club managers and CTAs who manage on-court activities and retailers to market their businesses. It is connected to the national tennis database for facilities (including tennis program organizers and CTAs who manage on-court activities) and tennis retailers.

Started in the fall of 2003, the TIA/USTA launched an image campaign to drive consumers to the website TennisWelcomeCenter.com where more than 4000 Tennis Welcome Centers were listed to find out where and how to learn to play.
